(that title is a beatles reference in case you care)

moving out to Hawaii soonish, just a few weeks left here in California. been doing more tattooing than any other art form lately. and unfortunatly not much tattooing at that. i'm taking a much needed break from art.

i got my BA in graphic design a couple weeks ago!

well i haven't actually physically gotten it yet, but if i passed all my finals (and i'm quite sure i did) i got it for sure. woot

gonna do a watercolor (or maybe just pen and ink) soon. i have the paper prepped on a board, just need to think of something worthwhile to paint/draw. need inspiration!

i did a sweet Darth Vader portrait on Shane's friend Alex's ankle tonight. She sat amazingly, almost no twitching or moving and she didn't complain once other than her toes getting cold :-p. It amazes me how some people can tolerate getting stabbed with a needle thousands of times without even blinking, but how some other people can't stand it for a moment. Luckily, no one has bailed on me half way through a tattoo yet. A partially done tattoo looks much worse than a finished one even if the finished one sucks. Luckily I haven't done a totally sucky tattoo yet either. I find that any art I do even if it is lousy at some point can be made to look presentable if i work on it enough. Well, so long as the initial concept is decent. I've definitly done some crappy artworks, but those are bad in idea, not execution.

Should I re-work some old works? Or start new ones? hmmm

almost forgot

not like anyone reads this anyway

pehaps in some future, a species of human-like beings will see this time capsule and study its contents.

not much new- just going to sift through photographs and destroy some old and birth some new entries.

just read a poem by my good friend steven turrill and a line in particular made me relate

"Why does it hurt to say hello?"

workin' / updating

Just updated a few links, a couple fishing sites I joined, as well as my facebook and twitter. As well as my profile pic of a very current picture of me. I've got a few new pieces from Illustration and Ceramics class that I will be putting up soon. I prepped a board with watercolor paper and think I will do a watercolor or 2 over spring break this next week. I will likely not be updating pics one by one, rather I will get motivated one day and just put them all up. I expect to put 3-8 pieces on display in the gallery withing 2 weeks. I should be able to meet that goal.

It's been awhile...

So I haven't updated the site or even this blog in 3 or 4 months. I don't think anyone is reading it anyway. In case someone is reading this I haven't forgotten about it and I ust spent the last couple hours revamping the site and I hope you enjoy.

Life update: It was a giant pain but I ran around and talked to several school advisors and got my request to graduate form and transcripts in and filed. I have 5 classes to go. I should have a BA in studio art with emphasis in graphic design by Christmas this year. Dad bought me a Wii, been having a lot of fun with that. It's nice when the folks are in town, been great spending time with them. I will put up some new art pics soon.

Another day another dollar

Here I am at work...again.

*sigh*

But like the title of this entry says, another day, another dollar. It's nice getting a little extra cash.

On a different topic, the hills of Los Angeles have been burning. Montecito and San Fernando Valley to be specific. Though it's a tragedy and the air has been miserable with the ashes in it fluttering down like grey snow, the sunsets today and yesterday have been fantastic. I drove out to Palos Verdes to get a better view of my polluted hometown and it was spectacular. Very eerie but gloriously beautiful at the same time. And the sun right before sinking below the horizon turned the most vibrant and neon color of red yesterday and today- truely breath taking.

I'm going to post some of the pictures I took yesterday on this site in the very near future.

...back to the grindstone for now.

flossing is good for the teeth and the soul

So not a whole lot is new. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but I didn't apply to the graphics program at Long Beach. I'm over it. Just pluggin' away at the last remaining graphics classes this semester. So glad I only have a month left of this stuff. I finally get to venture out and take some other classes next semester. I guess I've been waiting too long and that's why I feel kinda suffocated by these graphics classes.

Discovered a new online comic today, its pretty funny. Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal is the name of it. This comic is about why you should floss. enjoy.

Election Time

I'm not gonna start off by saying who I voted for.

Obama.

Ok, so I lied.

Anyway, whether you voted for him or "that other guy over there" it was time for a change. One President for 8 years gets stale no matter who he (I almost said "or she" but who's gonna be up to run for that? Hillary Clinton? No thank you. Anyway, he...) is. Anyone remotely interested in politics should watch the newest episode of Southpark that aired last Wednesday. It makes excellent light of an overly dramatic situation in a non traditional, and not overly offensive way (which is how Southpark usually is: shock value to the nth degree). The episode is titled "About last night..." and can be found at Trey Parker and Matt Stone's (The 2 guys that make Southpark) official website:

More important than the Presidental election, vote for real change in the election "Who's cuter: a newborn or a kitten" at Adult Swim's website:

Vote Kitten '08!

truthiness

So I'm trying to do this assignment for my art 331 class which entails coming up with people to put on a stamp and the advertisement that would be for said stamp. On my list of ideas thus far is Stephen Colbert and the first thing that came to my mind was something along the lines of "The truthiness is, this stamp is great." Then I realized that I didn't exactly know what it meant, truthiness that is, only that Colbert had invented the word. Upon researching this I found out that he did in fact coin the term in 2005 and it is in 2 dictionaries. It means an inherent truth or "gut feeling". With this I found an amusing picture...enjoy! Back to the drawing board for me.
